Dr. Alan Mendelsohn, a developmental-behavioral pediatrician, focuses on reducing poverty-related disparities in child development and health. He leads research at NYU on promoting parenting and school readiness through pediatric care, with interventions like Reach Out and Read and PlayReadVIP. Co-author of the StimQ tool, he studies environmental factors impacting children, including parent-child interactions and media exposure. Dr. Mendelsohn has received NIH funding since 2005 and plays key roles in national child poverty and early childhood initiatives.
