Currently, ARCADIA’s work spans across 3 projects: Directing Change, SMART Beginnings, and WeCare. The Directing Change program engages students in creating and sharing short films about suicide prevention and mental health, and ARCADIA aims to evaluate its impact on stigma reduction and youth support systems across 40 California high schools. The SMART Beginnings project integrates PlayReadVIP's universal video coaching and the Family Check-up program in pediatric care settings and evaluates their combined impact on school readiness outcomes of social-emotional skills and self-regulation among low-income children. A WeCare strategy implements universal screening and culturally tailored intervention strategies in emergency departments to combat rising rates of suicide attempts of Black youth at the population level with a system-level strategy that recognizes and connects high-risk Black youth.
